May Eve
Poised on the edge of Beltane
As if to burst into dance
As if? No, prepared!
For the dance of the May
Love and Lust and the heat
Of coming Summer
Bel Fyres laid out in circles
New couples eyeing one another
Awaiting nightfall
Children weaving in and out
Ribbon dances circumventing
Maypoles tall and strong
Singing of sunshine and blessings
Maidens touch the dew, praying for
Sacred births come the new spring
Dance! O Dance!
Drink deep the Mead!
For the May Queen is crowned,
The God is robust, and
The fyres burn with the fury
Of Eternal Love

Poem (an oldie): Mothers
In the circle
The women dance
Chanting, calling
Powers almost
Forgotten.
It has been
The mothers who
Have remembered,
Secretly.

Mothers
In the Circle
The Women
Dance,
Chanting, calling
Powers almost
Forgotten
It has been
The Mothers who
Have remembered,
Secretly.
